Here some FAQ

How much does parajumping cost?

You can make the parajumping as expensive as you want to make it. Just like any other branches of radio controlled modeling. It depends on what you can do yourselves. A skydiver can be made from a sheet of plywood.

You can make the parachute yourselves too. If you don’t want to, you can get your stuff from TV Products, Paramax and several other companies.

Costs, well, in this scenario around 400 or 500 euro, including all electronics.

Are there matches?

Yes, serveral matches are organised. In the Netherlands there is 1 in Nijverdal every year. Most matches are in Germany and here the European Para Trophy is held. This like an EC. Match data will be posted in the list. There are matches in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Austria and the States.

Are they well-controlled?

Yes the current parachutes are well-controlled. Some competion jumpers achieve a landing on the bulls eye (span 3 cm). The last 20 years a lot has been done to the development of better parachutes and jumpers.

Is it a new branch of RC

RC-parasports is not new. People have been busy with it for the past 20 years. In the past there used to be several matches all over the Netherlands. Now there is unfortunately only one match in Nijverdal. But who knows, maybe there will be some more matches and an official Dutch Championships. We are busy in trying to get it off the ground.

Will your parachute always open?

No, not always. Sometimes a parachute will refuse to open. This can be caused by several reasons. Wrong folding, dropping from the plane at too high a speed. Also the balance of the skydiver is very important. It has to fall without tumbling. If the skydiver tumbles too much, the lines of the parachute can get twisted and the parachute will not fully open.

Can I leave a parachute folded in the back pack?

No, it’s not advised to do that. It’s best to hang your parachute out after jumping (like laundry). This way you don’t get too many creases and the parachute will open more easily.

What kind of fabric do you use?

For the parachute we use the original parachute fabric. You can get this at Teuge Airport at the paracentre (parachutecase).

What kind of servos do I need?

For parajumping the suppliers advice to use the more heavy duty servos with ball bearing and metal gears. A good choice would be the Hitec HS645 MG. Torque at least 9 or 10 kg.

How do I find my skydiver when it drifts away?

You can fit your jumper with a modelfinder. This is a pager with will turn on when you switch off your transmitter or flick a switch.

How much does the skydiver weigh?

The minimum weight depends on the size of the parachute. The weight will usually be somewhere between 1300 and 1500 grams. In Germany it can definitely not be heavier than 1700 gram to be allowed to participate in matches.

Do you give demonstrations?

Yes, we are more than willing to give a demonstration at an aeroclub.
